Remarks
(HISTORY) This type of munition (military-issue) carbine was, together with its paddle-butted counterpart (cf. Cat. 15 and 16), exported in large quantities to several countries including the Dutch Republic. This partly explains why it is still found in many collections.
(OBSERVATIONS) It is difficult to date this gun exactly, but the third quarter of the 17th C is an estimate based on Støckel's dating of the hen mark (St. 1729) to c. 1685, and the EK mark (St. 2427) to 1650-1680.
